small reminders

Last week I was reminded of the simple truth that what we have is not our own but it belongs fully to the Lord; we are simply called to be stewards of the gifts we are given here on earth. Each gift is a blessing. Those blessings are abundant and they are not to be taken for granted.

Bryan was working at a client last week when the back window of his car was smashed in and his backpack was stolen from the back seat. Unbeknownst to the thief, all it held was some gym clothes and a pair of sunglasses, but we were both still bummed that someone would do such a selfish thing. Then we realized that there was no use in being bothered! What we have on this earth is temporal. Not only could the things we lost be easily replaced but they won’t last…

All that to say, I have been focusing on the blessings rather than the trials. Because while the Lord does promise that trials will come, He also promises great care, endless protection, renewed mercy, and unwavering grace to those who put their faith & trust in Him. And He promises that each trial produces an even greater faith.
